Description

The USB-87P2 Intelligent I/O Expansion Unit has 2 slots to take Plug-in units from the I-87K range of serial I/O devices and connects to a host computer or other devices via USB. It features the ability to "Hot-Swap" high-profile (W suffix) I-87k units while it can also store the configuration for each I/O slot on-board so that as soon as the module is plugged in, the pre-configured data will be downloaded to the module. Other features which simplify installation and maintenance of I/O modules include LED indicators for fault detection, dual watchdog to maintain operation plus programmable power on and safe values for safety.

The USB-87Pn is designed to be used in harsh and noisy environments often found in industrial monitoring and controlling applications.
Examples of this are that the hardware is manufactured with wide power input range (10 ~ 30 VDC), isolated power input and can operate under wide temperature range (-25°C ~ +75°C). 

There are more than 30 I/O modules supported with the unit, including analog input/output, digital input/output, counter, frequency I/O modules. To allow integration into most software packages, various software development kits (SDK) and demos are available, including DLL, ActiveX, Labview driver, Linux driver, OPC server, etc.
